"TEATRO UMANO, TEATRO DELLA NATURA" AT SPAZIO C21, 2026 with Francesco Garbelli and Dott. Porka's. Event: from 04/07 to 19/09 - 2026 The exhibition addresses controversial aspects of everyday life, intervening within that space of critical tension grounded in the Situationist concept of détournement—understood as the diversion and re-signification of everyday languages. The works on display—sculptures, urban installations, and photographs—share a common methodology: they extract from everyday reality a fragment of already codified visual language—road signs, corporate logos, sacred imagery, ornamental greenery—and return it to the viewer in a form that reveals its latent ideological content. In the section "Theatre of Nature," Francesco Garbelli and Biancoshock deconstruct public green spaces, exposing them not as untouched nature but as artificial simulacra and as masks concealing the power structures of contemporary multinational corporations. Running in parallel, the "Human Theatre" by the collective Dott. PorkA’s employs street-photo performance, combining the performative act with photographic documentation to explore a cultural icon—the human figure of Christ—outside its traditional contexts and systems of representation. As Francesco Ciaponi writes in the critical essay accompanying the exhibition: "At SpazioC21, the gaze can finally come to rest, free to read the signs and to appropriate the mechanism of détournement—everything that the city's delirious haste makes impossible. Space belongs to those willing to transform it, even temporarily, even illegally, even knowing that someone will restore it to order. Meaning belongs to those who have the courage to make it unstable. Garbelli and Biancoshock's obese flowers grow within that crack. PorkA's Christ walks through it." WORKSHOP AT MUSEO D'ARTE PAOLO PINI, 2026 with Francesco Garbelli Event: 17-19/04/2026 MAPP – Museo d’Arte Paolo Pini returns to miart 2026, the prestigious Milanese fair dedicated to modern and contemporary art, presenting works created by 42 artists from the Botteghe d’Arte during the workshop Fiori ignoranti, led by artists Biancoshock and Francesco Garbelli. The project was developed following a series of urban installations created by the two artists, through which they explored the theme of greenery and its relationship with the human environment. Fiori ignoranti addresses the theme of nature “under attack” by human activity. The project is part of Biancoshock and Francesco Garbelli’s Apocalypse Trilogy, a body of work that uses the flower as a powerful and universal symbol through which to reflect on contemporary environmental and social issues. “The flower is used to address current environmental and social issues. It is the common element throughout all the works, allowing each artist to interpret, in their own personal way, the broader concept of nature under attack by human beings. Entitled “Public Art and Politics,” the episode focuses on the interaction between urban art and shared space, examining how this form of expression both influences and reflects contemporary social discourse. The episode unfolds through a dialogue between two authoritative and complementary voices: Biancoshock, an Italian artist known for his urban installations addressing social issues, and Pietro Rivasi, an independent curator and expert in urban art, with extensive experience in the critical analysis of the phenomenon. Together, they offer an in-depth reflection on the political nature of street art, its ethical implications, and the transformative potential of interventions in public space. Since its origins, street art has occupied urban spaces as a privileged setting for conveying messages, often in opposition to the institutional circuits of the art world. Through his artistic practice, Biancoshock continues this tradition, using the urban environment as a direct and accessible means of communication. ESSAY BY ALESSANDRA IOALÈ FOR "RIVISTE UNIMI" - CONNESSIONI VOL.2, 2021 The publishing platform of the University of Milan Published on: 13/03/2021 Language: IT Connessioni N. 2 (2021): L’artivismo: forme, esperienze, pratiche e teorie The text provides a critical analysis of the work of Biancoshock, a Milan-based artivist who has been working in public space since 2004, complemented by an interview aimed at further exploring the distinctive features of his multidisciplinary creative practice. As the creator of the non-movement known as Ephemeralism, the artist develops his research around the notion of temporary acts of reappropriation in public space. In this context, the use of digital media—either as tools for critique or as objects of critique themselves—produces original aesthetic and conceptual implications, establishing an unprecedented relationship between real and virtual space while allowing the ephemeral trace to endure over time. From installations and online performances to urban-hacking actions, often carried out in collaboration with other artists both in Italy and abroad, Biancoshock emphasizes how, in a hyperconnected society, the URL dimension can be genuinely invasive and devastating for the IRL world (an abbreviation for “In Real Life,” ed.), but also how the former can serve as an extension that supports the latter through a different use of technology. |

BE YOUR HERO: WORKSHOP & PUBLIC PROJECT IN CORINALDO, 2021
with Rub Kandy & Laurent Piemontesi Event: 05/2021 Curated by: Sineglossa - Federico Bomba “Be Your Hero” is a public, social, and educational art project launched in Corinaldo in 2021 to collectively process the trauma of the 2018 tragedy at the “Lanterna Azzurra” nightclub. Promoted by local institutions and curated by cultural associations, the project uses urban art not simply as decoration, but as a therapeutic tool and a means of active citizenship, aimed at encouraging young people to reflect on responsibility, safety, and overcoming personal limits. The project was created by Biancoshock, Rub Kandy, and Laurent Piemontesi, a historic founding member of the Yamakasi, the legendary Parisian group that pioneered Art Du Déplacement, the urban discipline from which Parkour originated. Biancoshock and Rub Kandy led an intensive workshop that actively involved students and young people from the local community. During these sessions, participants were encouraged to freely express their fears, dreams, and perceptions of risk. The visual outcome of this process is “The Spot,” a permanent public installation located on the exterior façade of the Palazzetto dello Sport in Corinaldo. The artwork consists of three enormous custom-designed metal billboards that dominate the wall of the new sports hall. Rather than displaying commercial advertising, these spaces host visual and textual messages created through the collaboration of different artists who will be invited to contribute. For the first edition of “The Spot,” Rub Kandy reinterpreted one of Biancoshock’s most iconic works, “If I wasn’t looking for useless annoyances, I would be a painter,” recreating the piece from scratch and having it performed by one of the workshop participants, chosen as a symbol of the local youth. |

INTERVIEW BY FIONA CASHELL FOR "STUDIES IN ARTS AND HUMANITIES" VOL.2, 2016 Published by Library of Dublin Business School Published on: 15/12/2016 Language: EN Milan-based socially engaged artist, Biancoshock (a pseudonym the artist prefers to use), was kind enough to take time out of his schedule to answer some questions for SAH Journal. We wanted to know more about his diverse, and often provocative urban art projects; as well his time spent travelling and creating in different parts of the world. So far in his career, Biancoshock has realised more than 800 “interventions” on the streets of Italy, Albania, Belgium, Croatia, France, England, Malaysia, Malta, Norway and Singapore, to name but a few. While he exhibits widely, he has also participated in numerous urban art festivals (Citileaks, Memorie Urbane, Stencibility). In 2014, he presented his work at TEDx Oporto, Portugal.1Biancoshock places social activism high on his list of priorities, using art as the mediator for a worthwhile and necessary conversation between each individual who encounters it. By choosing unconventional sites for the creation of his art, and involving those spaces in intimate and challenging critiques, Biancoshock infers his questioning more seriously towards society and the centrally politicised - perhaps overly polished - contemporary art world. |
