NEW RELEASE: REJAS.
REJAS is a project created in San Cristóbal de los Ángeles, a suburban neighborhood of Madrid where unemployment, crime and marginalization increase a general sense of fear and mistrust.
“Before arriving in San Cristóbal, I studied the neighborhood and its history in depth through documentation, interviews with citizens, university research and explorations via Google Maps. This investigation revealed that the issue of security is fundamental for the residents of the neighborhood [...] It’s a duty to invest in the security of neighborhoods, of social systems, of the Internet, but we must remember that absolute security, by its nature, does not exist. [...] Can we achieve absolute security? How much does it cost in terms of privacy and freedom? Is a barrier synonymous with safety? [...] My approach has always been to provoke reflection, avoiding giving definitive or personal answers. And so I chose to ask these questions to the inhabitants of San Cristóbal through this project."
REJAS consists of two urban interventions and one performance documented within this book. The first 50 copies contain a photo taken by the artist in San Cristóbal. Each photo is numbered and signed by the artist.

72 pages / 14,5 x 21 cm / 99 hand-numbered copies / First 50 copies include a numbered and signed photo.
