LINEE DI PENSIERO / LINES OF THOUGHT

“Lines of Thought” is a silent scream—a work of public art that uses elements of digital culture to confront us with the physical world we inhabit, yet often fail to decipher.
Composed of three blue lines side by side, spanning the entire surface of a red brick wall, the work remains in a state of quiet anticipation to the eyes of the uninitiated viewer, revealing nothing beyond its raw form. Imposing and striking in their extreme simplicity, the Lines of Thought represent the routes mapped by Google Maps leading from San Donato Milanese to cities currently caught in conflict: Kabul, Raqqa, and Kyiv. Three segments that force us to realize where these cities actually lie in relation to us.
Three distances that give rise to a deafening reflection: for us, war is only a problem when it hits close to home. By decontextualizing a digital tool that permeates our daily lives, Biancoshock constructs a visual short circuit. He creates a gap between the viewer and the intrinsic meaning of the piece, mirroring the symbolic distance between the fragility of those war-torn places and how we habitually relate to them.
Once again, Biancoshock injects the debris of a liquid contemporaneity into the collective imagination, opening urban spaces to the unfamiliar and providing answers without waiting for questions. With claustrophobic irony, Lines of Thought slams into our faces just how easy it is for us to take sides in one war over another, and how normal it feels to pass judgment on right and wrong from the comfort of our couches.
