REGULATIONS UPDATE / SERIES

A series focused on the modification and reinterpretation of urban information and safety signage. The signs are “updated” to become tools for commenting on contemporary society and its political, economic, and social crises.
As a universally recognizable form of communication, the sign becomes a way to address current issues and aspects of everyday life in a simple, ironic, and immediate way.
Within Regulation Update, Covid Update stands out as a series of seven interventions created during the lockdown. The works apply the same principle of reinterpreting signage to the context of the pandemic. In this case, urban signs and safety devices are modified to highlight the new rules, restrictions, and contradictions introduced by the health emergency, transforming institutional communication into a form of social critique.
The series highlights how Covid-19 changed individual freedoms, interpersonal relationships, and our perception of public space.

Started in 2009, Regulation Update is periodically updated with new interventions.
