L'auto è stata ritrovata per strada già impacchettata ed è stata distrutta da un albero caduto a causa di un nubifragio estivo. Sul marciapiede rimangono le tracce dell'albero sradicato. CARROT AND STICK

"Carrot and stick"is an idiom that refers to a policy of offering a combination of rewards and punishment to induce behavior. It is named in reference to a cart driver dangling a carrot in front of a mule and holding a stick behind it. The mule would move towards the carrot because it wants the reward of food, while also moving away from the stick behind it, since it does not want the punishment of pain, thus drawing the cart.
The idiom is used in the field of International Relations to describe the realist concept of 'hard power'. The carrot can stand for tax cuts or other benefits, the stick can stand for the use of (psychological or not) violence and threats by the government. (Wikipedia)

"Il bastone e la carota" è un modo di dire riferito ad una politica che offre una combinazione di premi e punizioni per imporre comportamenti. Un uomo fa penzolare una carota davanti ad un mulo mentre tiene un bastone nell'altra mano. Il mulo si muove verso la carota sia perché vuole la ricompensa ( il cibo), per evitare il dolore della bastonate, ed in questo modo trascina il carro.
Il modo di dire è usato nel campo delle relazioni internazionali per descrivere il concetto realista di 'hard power'. La carota può stare per i tagli fiscali o altri benefici, il bastone può stare per l'uso della violenza (psicologica e non) e le minacce da parte del governo.
